Fence Lay-Down @ TNC’s Flat Ranch Preserve

Monday, October 19, 2026
9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Flat Ranch Preserve, 4770 Highway 20, Island Park, ID 83429

As cattle move off the landscape and elk, deer, pronghorn, and other ungulates begin their seasonal migrations, it’s time to lay down fences and open the way.
Join the Henrys Fork Wildlife Alliance and The Nature Conservancy for one—or both—of our fall volunteer fence projects in Island Park:

Flat Ranch
Monday, October 19
9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
4770 US-20, Island Park

H Bar L Ranch
Saturday, October 24
9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
5215 US-20, Island Park

Volunteers will help lay down seasonal fencing on these two Nature Conservancy properties, making it easier and safer for wildlife to move across the landscape. It’s a hands-on way to support migration, spend a beautiful fall day outdoors, and make a visible difference for Island Park’s wildlife.

No fence-work experience is necessary, we’ll show you what to do! Join us for whichever date works best, or double your impact by helping at both.

Bring: water, lunch (we’ll bring the snacks), work gloves, sun protection, layers (to adjust to changing temps through the day), rain gear (autumn days in IP are notoriously unpredictable), and sturdy footwear. We’ll bring the tools but if you have your own hammer, tool belt, or fencing pliers, bring them along!
